Atalanta did not lost because “they had a bad day”. They simply were dominated in all phases of the game. Italians are too loyal to their outdated system where individualism is ignored. While other nations continue to produce top players with physical and technical skills, Italy are sticking to their tacticality.

Palladino was naive to set up the way he did. Playing in an unfamiliar setup against one of the most dangerous attacking teams in world football is a recipe for a result like this. Only two years ago Atalanta was playing this type of pressing, attacking football en route to winning the Europa League. Serie A has had a terrible year in the CL, but I don’t believe this is the result that should necessarily stand out as an indicator of systemic failure.

His team lost 1-6 at home and he says he’d pick the same tactics again if they played them again?!?! Wtf? Is he right in the head? If I owned Atalanta I’d sack him for immediately for those comments. Its blatantly obvious that he should have got men behind the ball and tried to hit Bayern on the counter instead of man marking.

I wouldn’t call a 1-6 home defeat a loss, it is a humiliation.

remember 2 years ago Lazio beat Bayern 1-0 home and should’ve been 2, than lost 0-3 away and everyone was saying Byaern is a poor Bayern that year (even though they had Kane) . watch Atalanta will concede over 10 in total and Palladino wouldn’t change anything …

All Italian teams BUTCHERED in Europe. Squadra Azzurra on a verge of NOT qualifying to World Cup 3rd time in a row… 66% foreigners in Serie A. Minimum domestic young talents. No world superstars in the league. Big names come only long after hitting 30y. Stadiums are stuck in 20th century. Everything here is seriously rotten. And yet I see no light at the end of the tunnel.
