Daniele Rugani was thrown straight into the starting XI for his Fiorentina debut and it was disastrous, because he slipped for the Christian Kabasele free header, gave away the Keinan Davis penalty, and was shrugged off by Adam Buksa for the third goal.
This is the first Fiorentina defeat in Serie A since their 2-1 loss at Napoli on January 31, and it leaves them level on 24 points with Cremonese and Lecce.
The only teams behind them in the table are Pisa and Verona, joint rock bottom on 15 points, so it looks as if there is one more relegation spot still to be assigned.
Udinese ended their negative streak with a badly-needed 3-0 victory sealed by Christian Kabasele, Keinan Davis and Adam Buksa, as Daniele Rugani had a disastrous Fiorentina debut.

Rugani really has had a disastrous Fiorentina debut…
Miller knocks it down, Ranieri lets it through assuming that Rugani will get it, but instead Buksa surges forward and shrugs off the rather half-hearted attempt from Rugani to hang on to him, and then bends a lovely left-foot finish into the far post!
Diving header from Fabbian on a cross from the right, frankly improbable.
Into 5 minutes of added time.
OK now Zaniolo is replaced by Miller.
Also, Fazzini on, Fagioli off for Fiorentina.
Or not… Zaniolo said something to the bench, Miller waiting, and nothing happens, so play resumes.
Fiorentina attack falls apart because Ndour has fouled Kabasele.
Zaniolo off, Miller on for Udinese.
Yellow card for Ranieri, who went in a bit late into the back of Zaniolo, though not sure there was that much contact.
Bertola has really badly done his ankle in, he’s being carried away down the tunnel with his leg strapped up.
Ndour flicks it on for Piccoli, who can’t keep the angled drive on target.
Kamara cross from the left for Udinese, but Zarraga can’t quite get control of it!
Triple Udinese change.
Mlacic, Zarraga and Kamara on,
Bertola, Piotrowski and Zemura off.
With Udinese down to 10, Ndour header on the corner goes wide of the far post!
Piccoli and Fabbian on for Fiorentina, Kean and Mandragora off.
Bertola is still in a lot of pain, getting carried off the field.
Buksa gets into a mess, Mandragora sends Kean through, but Bertola chases him down and makes the brave block! Bertola also landed rather awkwardly on his ankle.

Davis off to a standing ovation from the Udinese fans, replaced by Buksa.
Davis has been so good, especially in the second half. He’s been out a month and he couldn’t wait.
Stuttered run-up, then lifted it over De Gea, who had already gone down too early.
Zaniolo handed the ball to Davis.
Zemura rolls a great ball across the face of goal, around the defenders to meet Davis at the back post, he seems to be in front of Rugani, who has arms around him and brings the striker down!
Bit of a nightmare Rugani performance.
